Really wish I had access to my books because I'm in the mood for the Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley in 1979 and the Adventures of Lando Calrissian by L. Neil Smith in 1983. Both were fun adventure stories and are, in my opinion, some of the best Star Wars novels out there. While I enjoy Timothy Zahn, Michael Stackpole, Aaron Allston, Troy Denning, James Luceno, Matthew Stover and a bunch of other authors who have written Star Wars novels, I really think the Han Solo and Lando Adventures are my favorites. Unfortunately my local library system doesn't have either of them.
I have read some other Star Wars novels over the past few days. Cloak of Deception by James Luceno tells of the events that lead up to the beginning of The Phantom Menance. I quite enjoyed it. Luceno has a good grasp on the general Star Wars feel and is up there in my top 5 Star Wars authors. His Labyrinth of Evil and Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader which book end Revenge of the Sith are both excellent novels.
Rogue Planet by Greg Bear is another one I have recently read. It is set 3 years after the events of the Phantom Menace. This book I have tried to read several times and just could not get into it. This time I did and enjoyed it. It is sort of a prequel to the New Jedi Order series that is set, approximately, 25 years after the movies. Not my favorite novel, but enjoyable.
I have Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover (who wrote the excellent Revenge of the Sith novelization), The Cestus Deception by Steven Barnes and Death Star by Michael Reeves and Steve Perry coming in the next few days.
So yeah it's save to say I'm in a bit of a Star Wars mood lately.
