Yesterday I played X-Men Legend from 2:30PM (when it arrived) until 9PM when I watched CSI. I took a very short break to eat around 4ish. I played for another hour after CSI and had to stop at 11 for one of my Buffy IRC games. The game is fun. It's a beat 'em up (like Gauntlet, Balder's Gate (on the consoles) and Everquest (on the consoles), with RPG elements. Basically you gain experience and apply that to a variety of abilities. You start off with a small slection of X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm and Ice-Man). Currently I also have access to Beast, Nightcrawler, Rogue and Gambit.
Story wise it's set in the Ultimate universe, mostly. The costumes are the versions from there. So far I've been in two different flashback missions. One was in the 70s costumes (Cyclops, Jean Grey as Phoenix, Wolverine in the brown and yellow and Nightcrawler). In this I fought against a handful of the 15 foot tall sentinels. It was fun. The second one I played was in the original X-Men outfits with Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Ice-Man (Lumpy snow/ice and wearing boots).
This has really got me wanting to read some X-Men comics. I've got issues 1-3 & 5 of Astonishing X-Men. Not exactly sure where my Ultimate X-Men trade paperbacks are. If I can find them all and figure out what ones I'm missing I might pick them up. In general I find the Ultimate X-Men universe interesting. Any suggestions on other X-Men titles or trade paperbacks?
